Butter Chicken Recipe | Butter Chicken Masala | How to prepare Butter chicken – Whenever I need a rich creamy curry which is not much spicy, I opt for Butter chicken. Oh! so Yum it tastes. The specialty of this curry is the richness the curry exhibits. It is buttery and velvety. I love the way the Punjabi’s use the dairy products in their recipes. I feel they make the maximum use of it.

Butter Chicken goes well with Roti, Naan, Rice, Ghee Rice.

Variations to Butter Chicken

I had learnt this recipe in a restaurant that I was working. This recipe does not require Fresh cream, as it is already very rich in flavor, but you can garnish it with Kasoori methi. This gives a good flavor too.

Butter Chicken Gravy is delicious North Indian gravy which is prepared with tomato and other ingredients to bring out rich flavor into it.

Ingredients

  • 500 gms Chicken
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Jeera powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 2 tbsp Kitchen King masala
  • 2 tbsp Butter or more if you like it more buttery
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • Salt as per taste

For Gravy Masala

  • 4 medium Tomatoes
  • 1/4 Cup Watermelon seeds
  • 20 gms Cashew nuts
  • 4 Red Chilies dry
  • 6-7 Garlic cloves
  • 2 inch Ginger
  • 4 Cups Water

Instructions

How to prepare Butter Chicken at Home

  • Boil water in a pan.
  • Take all the below ingredients.
  • Chop all the tomatoes as per below before adding it in the boiling water.
  • Add all the ingredients in the water.
  • After 10 mins, check if the ingredients are soft and turn off the fire
  • Now Strain the water and cool all the ingredients and take it in a mixer jar.
  • Make the paste of the blanched ingredients.
  • Add Oil in a Pan.
  • Add sliced Onions in the Pan. 
  • Add ginger garlic paste once the onions turn golden brown.
  • Fry it for 1-2 mins.
  • Add the ground masala in the Pan.
  • Add some water into the masala.
  • Add turmeric powder.  
  • Now add garam masala, jeera powder and coriander powder into the pan.
  • Add Salt as per taste. Add Kitchen king masala and bring it to boil.
  • Add Kitchen king masala and bring it to boil. 
  • Add Chicken into the pan.
  • Mix chicken into the masala and cook for around 10 mins with closed lid.
  • Add butter into the gravy 
  • Now boil the chicken until fully cooked.
  • Add Butter again and a pinch of sugar once the chicken is cooked. 
  • Butter Chicken is now ready to serve. Serve hot with Ghee Rice or Paratha.

Notes

Note: Add more chilies if you want your Butter chicken gravy to be a little spicy.  Also you can garnish with crushed Kasoori Methi

Add all the above ingredients to the water. After 10 mins, check if the ingredients are soft and turn off the flame
