Spanish Omelette | Tortilla de patatas – This yummy omelette is so filling by itself. It is made of eggs, potatoes and onions. You can skip onions if you wish to, but potatoes is what Spanish Omelette is all about.
You can have Spanish Omelette for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This can be served hot or cold too, since it tastes yum anyway.
What does Spanish Omelette go well with
Spanish Omelette is good as a AppetizerĀ or as Main course. It can be served hot or cold. I prefer it as a side accompaniment to rice (very little rice, since this omelette is very filling) or as a breakfast option.
Variations
You can skip the onions if you wish to. Also, I have used red chilli flakes for garnish, you can choose your favorite seasoning for garnish.

Spanish Omelette | Tortilla de patatas
Ingredients
- 4 Eggs
- 1 small Onion Sliced
- 3 medium Potatoes Chopped
- Salt Taste
- Oil to deep fry
- Chilly Flakes or any seasoning for garnish
Instructions
- Break open 4 eggs in a container and beat it well
- Add Salt to the beaten eggs and mix well
- Slice a small onion and chop 3 medium Potatoes
- Deep fry the Onions and Potatoes. The potatoes should be cooked well
- Add the fried onions and potatoes in the egg mixture. Let it soak in the egg mixture while the pan is getting hot. (optional: You can smash the potatoes a little to blend in it egg mixture)
- Heat a frying pan and add oil in it
- When the oil in the pan is heated, add the egg mixture entirely with onions and potatoes. The pan should be small enough, to exactly hold the egg mixture
- Fry the omelette on one side. Let it not burn
- For frying the other side, keep a plate on top of the pan and flip the omelet on the plate
- Now, slide the omelet back in the pan and cook the other side. Tuck in the corners of the omelet so that, you can get a thick fluffy omelette.
- Now your Omelette in ready. Garnish the Omelette with your favorite seasonings. I have added Chilli Flakes here.
