When it comes to Muslim festivals, Biryani and Kheer are their specialties. They are the best in cooking these items. This is our version of Muslim style Kheer. This reminds us of the version of Kheer we received for Eid, in our childhood days. You can go ahead and add dates to this kheer. It tastes good too.

Semiya Kheer can be had as a meal on its own at 4pm. It can also be had as a Lunch accompaniment or with Biryani, as a serving of dessert.

Muslim Semiya Kheer

Muslim semiya or vermicelli  kheer is a dessert where most of the Muslims serve this for their festivals. It is so Yum.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 50 gms Pistachios
  • 50 gms Almonds or Badam
  • 100 gms Thin Semiyan or Vermicelli
  • 1 lt Milk
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Condensed milk
  • 2 pinch Cardamon Powder
  • pinch Salt

Instructions

  • Chop Pistachios and Almonds very fine, or as per your thickness
  • Take a pan. Heat ghee in it. Add the nuts in the pan and fry for 2-3 mins.
  • Check pic for the look of end product
  • Check the pic for Thin semiyan used for the kheer
  • Toast the Semiyan in ghee till they become slightly brown as shown below.
  • Add milk to the above mixture and stir. 
  • Add sugar and some more ghee to the mixture. Stir well. Let it boil for 4-5 mins
  • Add a pinch of salt
  • Add milkmaid or Condensed milk to the mixture and stir well
  • Now add cardamon powder
  • Add Pistachios and Almonds
  • Stir well. Let them blend well for 2-4 mins. Serve hot.

Notes

Tip: This recipe can also include peda, khoya etc., instead of milkmaid which will also give you a rich flavor in Semiya Kheer. We will also include this in our website in future for you to get a clearer idea on the recipe.

Chop Pistachios and Almonds very fine, or as per your thickness
