Malai Prawn Curry

Prawns cooked in coconut milk and Indian spices to give a rich and creamy curry

Ingredients

For Marination

  • 250 gms Prawns Deveined
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt As per taste

For Frying the Prawns

  • 4 tbsp Ghee

For Gravy

  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 2 Inch Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 Cardamon
  • 3-4 Cloves
  • 3 Dried Red Chillies
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 200 ml Coconut milk Approx
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Curd Optional
  • Coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt As per taste
  • water or 2nd round of freshly extracted coconut milk

Instructions

How to prepare Malai Prawn Curry

  • Marinate Prawns with Salt and Turmeric powder and keep it aside for an hour
  • Heat a pan. Add Ghee.
  • Add the marinated prawns and fry until it is 3/4th cooked. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in another pan.
  • Add all the spices and fry for 2-3 mins until you get the aroma of spices
  • Add chopped onions and fry until it is golden brown
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a min
  • Add all the powder masala and fry for few mins
  • Add the fried prawns in the pan
  • Now add 2nd round of extracted milk, then coconut milk. Cook for 2-3 mins OR Add Store brought coconut milk, then add little water to adjust to your curry consistency
  • Add curd in the gravy and cook for 2 mins or till the prawns are fully cooked
  • Now take it off the heat and Serve hot. Garnish with Coriander Leaves.

Notes

Do not Overcook the prawns or make it rubbery
