Mutton Masala

Easy Mutton or Lamb semi dry or sukka recipe. This is what you may call one pot recipe. Mutton is cooked with Homemade mutton masala to give a unique taste to it. In India, we refer mutton to as Goat meat.

This goes well with Rice or chapathi. Mutton sukka is a side accompaniment.

Variations

You can try store brought Mutton masala. We have never tried it with that. We will put up the Homemade mutton masala recipe soon.

Mutton Sukka

Mutton or Lamb side dish made with home made mutton masala. Its an easy one pot recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 250 gms Mutton or Lamb
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 2 tbsp Mutton Masala
  • Salt As per taste

Instructions

  • Wash mutton 3 - 4 times till the water is almost clear. Mix Salt and Turmeric powder, keep it aside for 2 mins and rinse with water again. Keep this aside
  • Take a pressure Cooker. Heat 3 tbsp oil in it. Once the oil is heated, add freshly chopped onion in it. Fry till slightly brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 3 mins.
  • Add garam masala and mutton masala and saute for 2 mins or till the oil leaves the sides.
  • Add the washed mutton and mix it well. Add Salt as per taste.
  • Add water till the mutton is almost submerged. 
  • Give it 7 to 8 whistles or till the mutton is fully cooked.
  • Optional - after the mutton is cooked , if you feel you need to reduce the water to make it complete dry, please do so in a high flame stirring frequetly. Serve it hot

Notes

We like our lamb soft. You can cooked based on your preference. The amount of whistles is up to you. This recipe goes good with Homemade mutton masala

 

Step by step directions to make Mutton Sukka

Step 1
Wash mutton 3 – 4 times till the water is almost clear. Mix Salt and Turmeric powder, keep it aside for 2 mins and rinse with water again. Keep this aside

Give it 7 to 8 whistles or till the mutton is fully cooked.

Optional – after the mutton is cooked , if you feel you need to reduce it to complete dry, please do so in a high flame stirring frequetly. Serve it hot
