Maasi Fish Sambal

A delicious side accompaniment made with Maldive Fish or Dried Tuna Fish. It is super easy and tastes lovely.

Ingredients

  • 200 gms Maldive Fish | Dried Tuna | Masi
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • A handful of Small Onions for grinding
  • A handful of Grated Coconut
  • 5 tbsp Wood Pressed Sesame Oil
  • 300 gms Small Onions for frying in the pan
  • Salt As per taste
  • Lime juice as per taste

Instructions

  • Take a medium sized Maldive Fish or Dried Tuna Fish 
  • Shred the dry fish into pieces. Remove the fish bones if any
  • Take the shredded fish in the blender
  • Add a tsp of Chilli Powder or more as per taste
  • Add 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  • Add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Grind the dry fish and the above mentioned ingredients in a blender for a few secs. 
  • After grinding, add a handful of small onions to the same blender and a handful of grated coconut. Now, blend this mixture again for few seconds
  • Now, take a pan, switch on the flame and add 5 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • Once the oil is heated add 300 gms small onions
  • Add Salt as per taste
  • Wait till the onions are brown and then add ground dry fish mixture
  • Mix it well and fry for 3-4 mins
  • Now its time to add lime juice as per taste
  • Fry for 2 more mins and your Masi Sambal is ready to be served
